The price we pay for protection

January 11, 2012

-Silvermoon is nice this time of year? An elbow to the side and the elf sat up straight, blinking towards the troll. -What? The sleep deprived Centurion didn’t recognize where he was for a couple of seconds before he understood that he had just closed his eyes for a second in the bar down in Gadgetzan where he was stationed. The troll in front of  him kept asking questions but Jetzy could only hear murmur, it seemed like he was asking about Silvermoon. He longed for Silvermoon, its green parks, fountains and shimmering lights. -Hello…?! The troll tried to get in contact with him again, but Jetzy just waved his hand towards him and limped out of the bar. His condition had gotten slightly worse, the limp hadn’t improved and he no longer could hold up his shield with his shoulder. Age and stress was starting to get to him, all these years of war, they age an old mind much faster then you could think. Jetzy had been in the blood knight order for along as he could remember, a whole lifetime, for humans several lifetimes.

He dropped his shield on the ground, too heavy for him to carry for now. He hadn’t slept in what felt like weeks. He looked out over the quiet city, the goblins kept the place in shape. Exhausted he fell down on his knees in the sand. Two pair of hands griped around his chest and arms, helping him up on his feet again, he looked to his right to see his brother. -Joshua…. he whispered. – We need to get you to a doctor! Joshys voice was hard and stern, he had for the first time seen what his brother lived for, the war up close, all the stress and the people lost. The stress had torn on Jetzy this time around. Jetzy looked at the other man next to him, sergeant Darkmourne that just nodded towards him as they started walking towards the clerics house. Joshy and Darkmourne discussed something quietly as they helped the centurion sit down on a bench outside the house. Joshy sat down next to him as Darkmourne went inside to get someone to have a look at the centurion.

- Maybe we should go home, Joshy whispered in a low voice to his brother, Jetzy looked up at him and shook his head. – No Joshua, we cant just get up and leave, we have a duty to fulfill, and I will do it if it so costs my life. Jetzy almost shouted the last words and Joshy could tell from looking at him that it took all his energy just to raise his voice slightly. – You’re not well, hopefully the clerics can help you.  – I don’t need help… Jetzys voice had turned into a shivering whisper. -Ill be fine, just take me to my bed.

In the same second 2 clerics came out from the stone building. One of them kneeled in front of him lifting his chin up. Jetzy opened his eyes and looked straight into hers, same emerald color as his own, it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. A warm feeling spread all over his body as he passed out and fell down in the sand.
